Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking an energetic, people-oriented full-time Facilities Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of the building and grounds at the Aspen Drive Library in Vernon Hills. Responsibilities include monitoring the operation of all mechanical equipment and building security.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8 am-4 pm. Full-time (37.5 hours per week), including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Ensures building cleanliness, safety, and security compliance.
· Coordinates transport of library materials between facilities and deliveries to local schools.
· Identifies needs of facilities and makes budget requests accordingly.
· Ensures that meeting rooms are set up for programs according to directions, including arranging the furniture and setting up computers when needed.
· Oversees all building repairs, occasionally requiring presence during evenings or weekends for various emergencies that arise.
Requirements:
· Three years maintenance experience
· Supervisory experience preferred
· High school education: higher education or technical training preferred
· Valid driver’s license and good driving record
· Mechanical aptitude and computer skills
· Experience with tools, painting, plumbing, and cleaning techniques
· Able to lift 50 pounds, have the agility to use ladders, and get on and off roofs
· Able to easily communicate in English
Salary & Benefits:
Starting range begins at $24.00 an hour, depending on qualifications. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, health insurance, paid sick, vacation and holiday leave, parental leave, cost of living and merit increases, and optional 457(b) deferred compensation plan.
