Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and a desire to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients, not only assisting veterinarians, but also educating clients, performing in various procedures, and ensuring the overall well-being of animals.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Induce and monitor anesthesia, ensuring patient safety during surgical procedures.
- Perform dental scaling, radiographs, and charting while patients are being monitored by a veterinarian, another technician, or assistant.
- Perform high quality, diagnostic survey radiographs.
- Prepare patients for cardiac and abdominal ultrasound.
- Accurately collect and prepare samples to be sent to reference labs and/or perform routine laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal exams using Heska laboratory machines.
- Be able to discuss and educate clients about what is involved with various diagnostic tests to help answer their questions.
- Calculate and dispense medication doses based on veterinarian instructions.
- Administer medications and vaccinations based on veterinarian recommendations and hospital guidelines/SOPs.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any changes or concerns.
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient including client phone calls, veterinarian recommendations, lab findings, and treatments that were performed.
- Create estimates and invoices for clients detailing what is being recommended at the current visit and what was actually performed or declined at that visit.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately using proper restraint techniques during examinations or treatments.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate should possess the following skills:
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred.
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting preferred.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with multiple veterinarians and technicians.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Experience with animal husbandry practices.
- Proficiency in handling dogs and other animals safely.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures.
- Familiarity with animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively educate pet owners.
- Compassionate approach towards animal care with attention to detail.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.50 per hour
