Job Title: Director of Auxiliary Programs, K-12
Type: 12-month position
Hours:
- September–June: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (on days when after-school programs are in session)
- 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (on non-after-school program days)
- Summer (July–August): 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Salary: $109,000 - $120,000
Position Overview:
The Director of Auxiliary Programs is a key leadership role dedicated to enhancing the student experience by overseeing a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular programs that align with the school’s mission. This role involves leading the K-12 summer school program, managing after-school programs, supporting the school lunch programs, and supporting the coordination of school-wide events such as dances and other supplemental activities. As a member of the K-12 school’s leadership team, the Director of Auxiliary Programs collaborates with faculty, staff, and families to create an inclusive, engaging, and vibrant student culture. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to develop programs that support student engagement, personal growth, and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Summer School
- In collaboration with the Associate Head of School, lead and manage the summer school program, ensuring that high-quality educational and enrichment opportunities are provided to students, while maintaining the school’s overall educational experience.
- Serve as administrator on-site during the summer program, managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the school.
- Develop curriculum and unit outlines, weekly schedules, community trips, and assessment protocols to ensure continuity of school services during the summer.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and training of staff for the summer school.
- Ensure that staff are trained in program objectives, child safety, and school policies.
- Provide ongoing support and professional development for program staff.
- Work closely with other areas of the school to integrate the summer program with the school’s broader goals.
After-School
- Develop, organize, supervise, and oversee after-school programs that promote student interests, social-emotional development, and well-being.
- Maintain records of student participation, ensuring that enrollment processes are smooth and efficient.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of auxiliary programs through feedback from students, parents, and staff.
- Implement improvements to existing programs based on data and input from the school community.
- Innovate new programs or events that align with the evolving needs of students and the school’s mission.
- Develop promotional materials, such as flyers, brochures, and website content.
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, and staff about upcoming programs, events, and changes to schedules.
School Collaboration
- Assist Assistant Heads in planning and coordinating school-wide student events, including annual concerts, assemblies, and social activities.
- Support the school’s mission and leadership team in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging school culture. Attend leadership meetings and participate in decision-making processes aimed at improving the school community.
- Work closely with the Associate Head of School and Assistant Heads on program development and school leadership tasks.
- Serve as a member of the school administration team, contributing to tasks such as lunch/recess supervision, arrival and dismissal support, bus supervision, and other administrative duties as needed.
Community Engagement
- Foster a strong sense of community among students, parents, and faculty through events and programs.
- Engage with parents to understand their interests and needs, and incorporate their feedback into program planning.
- Create opportunities for parent involvement in auxiliary programs, such as volunteering for after-school activities or assisting with summer school events.
- Facilitate effective partnerships with organizations used for after-school and summer programming.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree or equivalent in education or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in a school environment, preferably with a range of grade levels.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage successful school initiatives
- Preferred: Relevant supervisory experience

Professional Development
All Cooke staff are responsible for developing a professional growth plan with their supervisor. Staff training is an integral part of the Cooke school and as such is a requirement of the job. All staff must at a minimum: attend all scheduled Staff Development activities throughout the year and participate in staff orientation scheduled for the last week in August.
