What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rehabilitation Technician- Therapy Services position at Cookeville Regional Medical Center System?
The Rehabilitation Technician is non-licensed and is specifically trained under the direction of a physical or occupational therapist. The technician performs designated routine tasks related to the operation of physical or occupational therapy services delegated by the therapist, in accordance with the law. The staff rehabilitation technician provides assistance with patient care under the continuous on-site supervision of the therapist. The rehabilitation technician may have other clerical duties assigned such as assisting with patient intake paperwork, customer service, scheduling, entering charges, ordering and inventory control, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, stocking linens, etc.
The Rehabilitation Technician may work with any /all patients of the following age groups based upon individual responsibility, training,and competencies demonstrated prior to working with pediatrics. The staff PTA also assists the director of the department in quality assurance and improvement activities and the overall operation of the physical therapy department. The PTA is required to perform the professional duties and standards of care as specified by the American Physical Therapy Association, state and federal laws and regulations, and TJC standards. Education: High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year of volunteer or work experience relating to direct patient care in physical or occupational therapy or similar field, or related college course work is preferred. Must be able to read and write English.
