Project Equity Illinois, in partnership with Cookies®, is seeking an Assistant General Manager for our Bloomington dispensary. Position Title: Asst. General Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
Status: Full-time
Summary/Objective: Provide daily and ongoing support to the General Manager in the oversight of administrative and operational functions of the retail dispensary in accordance with IDFPR compliance regulations and company policies and procedures supporting employee engagement levels to achieve customer service excellence and maximize profitability.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee effective and compliant execution of daily dispensary operational processes
- Cash management; conduct scheduled cash counts, schedule/oversee armored car transactions, communicate/report to accounting manager.
- Create and manage staffing schedules to ensure optimal coverage and minimize meal break and OT expenses.
- Visually evaluate staff performance and productivity; provide ongoing feedback as necessary in real time.
- Conduct weekly compliance audits; identify and resolve any potential compliance issues.
- Ensure all security/surveillance equipment is in proper working order; provide direction to Security Personnel as needed.
- Report any staffing issues or concerns to the GM and HR Director in a timely manner
- Work with Cookies product team to ensure inventory compliance; manage product selection
- Identify and establish relationships with credible vendors in desirable product categories.
- Review and track daily purchasing trends; identify top moving products.
- Work with vendors to maintain exclusivity on top moving products when possible.
- Identify and reduce/eliminate slower moving products.
- Research new products; stay abreast of market trends.
- Negotiate effectively with vendors to maximize profit margins
- Work with vendors to run specials on their products, maximizing in-store PAD’s presented by vendor’s staff.
- Make sure all vendor permits and 1099’s are on file and up to date prior to accepting delivery.
- Manage inventory compliance; ensure proper labeling, packaging etc. on all incoming orders.
- Train staff to recognize compliant packaging when accepting deliveries and how to properly complete/maintain compliance binder.
- Ensure accurate input to BioTrack in compliance with IDFPR; effectively resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Supervisory Responsibility: This position provides daily oversight of all staff including the Dispensary Security Officer.
Required Education and Experience:
· Minimum 2 years previous experience in a senior leadership role with legally compliant cannabis company
· Minimum 3-5 years previous management experience in a competitive retail sales environment
· Strong numbers orientation; clear understanding of retail pricing formulas and strategies
· Strong proficiency in customer relationship management databases and POS systems
· Strong work ethic; ability to adapt to adjusting workload and priority levels.
· Excels in team environments and in building and developing interpersonal relationships while maintaining an individual focus/determination to achieve established goals.
· Highly organized and process focused
· Exceptional communication skills
· Highly proficient in Excel, Word, MS Office
