Cookshop, a long-standing neighborhood favorite committed to seasonal and locally produced food, is looking for an ambitious, hard-working, and passionate Pastry Cook. The pastry cook will prepare and plate pastry and desserts with consistent quality using recipes provided, as well as assisting in daily production.
Cookshop is an urban restaurant that draws energy and vitality from its commitment to honoring the seasons and using the products of regional farming. We serve lunch, dinner and brunch.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
(include, but are not limited to):
- Interacts with fellow employees, and supervisors in a polite and courteous and to ensure gracious hospitality
- Maintain professional appearance standards as directed in The Bowery Group Employee Handbook
- Anticipate and accommodate the needs of all team members
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned station, the kitchen, and the entire venue
- Labels and stores all product following FIFO and company standards
- Required to check production lists and assignments
- Follow supervisor’s instructions, communicate with and support co-workers while being a team player
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of assigned recipes with the ability to produce them to company standard
- Acknowledges team members by name
- Exhibits positive body language and facial expression
- Functions as a supportive team member during the course of their shift
- Possesses general knowledge of the venue
- Complies with Department of Health and company sanitation standards
- Communicates product needs to the chefs, sous chefs and the support staff
- Properly sets-up prep station and performs other opening/closing procedures as directed by management
- Wipes down and sanitizes station
- Attends and participates in daily pre-service meetings (where applicable)
- Attends and participates in any training sessions or departmental meetings
- Learn by listening, observing other team members and sharing knowledge while leading by example
- Portrays a positive and professional attitude
- Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion
- Exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials
- Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends and holidays

Education, Certification & Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Language Skills
- Must be able to to communicate and understand English
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to interact with co-workers and guests
Reasoning Skills
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Understanding of how to deal with common scenarios
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand and walk
- Bi-Lateral manual dexterity as required to handle, touch and feel, and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to talk and hear clearly
- Ability to stoop, kneel and crouch
- Ability to taste and smell (preferred)
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Ability to utilize close, distance, color and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and to adjust focus
