The CoolSys Energy Solutions (CES) Mechanical Engineering Designer 1 will transform initial “red-line” designs into engineering drawings using AutoCAD or Revit under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. Must have HVAC commercial building design experience.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and create detailed designs for a variety of building projects including supermarkets and retail.
  • Create and maintain AutoCAD and Revit drawing packages.
  • Incorporate selection, layout, sizing, and applicable system and equipment requirements with direction from the Senior Engineer.
  • Participate in conceptual design for specific projects.
  • Comply with project schedules, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Maintain responsible control over all design activities pertaining to the project, including engineering, quality control, and code compliance.
  • Ensure work is executed accurately and in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Prepare design calculations and engineering documents that are constructible and meet both customer quality requirements and company standards.
  • Coordinate with local building officials regarding code compliance.
  • Assist with on-site visits and reporting, as required.
  • Provide support for other department activities as required including plotting drawings, producing transmittals, and coordinating the shipment of deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Training

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Other engineering or construction disciplines are considered based on experience and skill set.

Work Experience / Skills

  • 1 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit required.
  • Strong fundamental skills in engineering thermodynamics and the refrigeration cycle.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, as well as demonstrated high-quality technical writing skills.
  • Team player with sound business ethics and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to achieve project goals and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors, to develop a full understanding of building energy systems and their operation.
  • This position will require minimal travel to project sites.
  • Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clean, well-lit and climate-controlled professional office environment with minimal physical hazards and noise. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, drive, and use hands and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to reach, stoop and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
