The commercial Construction Estimator Engineer is responsible for researching construction bid opportunities and delivering proposals for new and existing clients within the Northern Virginia (NOVA) market. The Construction Estimator Engineer will report directly to the Director of NOVA.

Responsibilities

SALE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Solicit and close construction contracts for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. Target annual billings will be discussed based on progression in the role.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of clients as directed by the Director of NOVA.
  • Respond to Construction RFP requests within the assigned market.
  • Estimate and prepare all proposals, detailing anticipated costs, labor requirements, subcontracts, and materials.
  • Interact with internal support personnel as well as field staff.
  • Facilitate job kick-off meetings and surveys with client and company personnel.
  • Oversee all projects sold and act as the Company’s primary client contact during and after construction.
  • Support and respond to all customer retention activities or concerns

Qualifications

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with strategic planning throughout the year to foster the growth of the office.
  • Offer input on operational procedures for continuous improvement of our product offering.
  • Maintain and store all proposals, estimates, quote logs, and customers’ contact information on company servers.
  • Pursue continuing education credits and programs as required to remain current on new technologies, controls, and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain positive community relations/image through involvement in civic and trade organizations, business groups, and other key contacts.
  • Represent the company at industry functions and forums throughout the year.

j Perform other job-related duties as assigned or as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or business degree preferred
  • 3 years in the commercial HVAC industry preferred
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of commercial HVAC equipment and systems.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Able to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently

Computer literacy, including strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, internet research, and other software applications.

  • Heavy emphasis on organizational skills with attention to detail, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Must be a team player and self-starter.
  • Able to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions and approaches to problems.
  • Conduct yourself professionally, ethically, and morally, reflecting well upon yourself and MEC2. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Typical office conditions
  • High level of confidentiality of company projects and policies
  • High level of professional conduct both internally and externally with clients and vendors WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Travel to job locations.
  • May be subjected to inclement weather and hazardous working conditions at job site
