The position of an Accounts Payable Manager is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative. The Accounts Payable Manager position provides administrative and accounting services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations. This position is responsible for accurately managing and maintaining accounts payable and provides support in a manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations, maximizes departmental effectiveness, and achieves the strategic goals of Valley Wide Cooperative
Job Summary:
- Manages accounts payable which includes customer vendor relations and the accounts payable disbursement group.
- Leads 10 AP professionals with a dotted line leadership for two additional AP professionals.
- Manages check and ACH disbursements.
- Manages the review of invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment .
- Maintains sufficient internal controls while being adaptive to business needs.
- Resolves discrepancies that arise with vendor invoices or payments.
- Reconciles accounts payable subsidiary ledger to general ledger .
- Analyzes and recommends improvements to current purchase order system.
- Prepares annual Form 1099s
- Addresses concerns from other departments including purchasing, sales, and vendors to reduce inefficiencies.
- Provides timely delivery of financial information to management
- Identifies process improvements and opportunities for change.
- Organizes tasks and resources to complete work and meet deadlines according to established procedures.
- Performs basic office functions including emailing, filing, scanning, copying, and faxing.
- Answers customer questions and resolves complaints in a timely and efficient manner.
- Supports a team-oriented environment by interacting in a professional, collaborative, and respectful manner with all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
- 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance preferred.
- Experience in automated AP processes preferred.
- Ability to teach and mentor AP professionals in the areas of processing, research, and customer service.
- Knowledge of Idaho sales tax laws
- Two or more years of leadership experience
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software programs, knowledge of DocuWare or other digital AP programs a plus.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and process improvement skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision .
- Good written and verbal communication and collaborative skills .
