The position of Store Lead is of great significance to Valley Wide Cooperative. A person in this position acts as a leader in the store and is a critical member of the store team. The Store Lead is expected to learn and possess the skills, knowledge, and ability to handle key carrier duties on a regular basis as business needs dictate.
Job Summary:
These are the basic requirements of the position and must be performed competently.
- Assist customers with all transactions for the purchase or returns of goods and services.
- Ensure customer transactions are processed promptly and accurately.
- Responsible for training of new employees and helping manager identify training needs.
- Supervise checkout stations on regular basis.
- Provide expertise in one or more areas or functions.
- Utilize exceptional customer service skills, sales techniques, and product knowledge to connect customers with the right product and drive sales.
- Maintain knowledge of all store departments and be able to perform all activities of employees in addition to handling more complex transactions or customer service situations.
- Assist with loss prevention efforts by providing proactive customer service.
- Oversees employee productivity, breaks and daily scheduling. Communicates performance issues to management.
- Assign duties to employees, as well as directing workflow.
- Ensure employees follow accounting policies, safety procedures and customer service standards.
- Act as manager on duty when necessary.
- Ability to handle problems that other employees cannot address.
- Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous customer service experience and two years of retail experience preferred.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Acknowledge all customers, employees, and vendors in a friendly and appropriate manner.
- Ability to multitask and determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
- Ability to communicate using proper telephone etiquette with customers, other employees, and vendors.
- Must have a strong team player focus in all interactions- ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to properly handle money, give change and record multiple transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Must exhibit a professional and positive image.
