Description

PRN : Cooper Clinic. We are currently seeking a Medical Technologist who will be responsible for performing routine chemical, hematologic and other general laboratory tests / procedures. The Medical Technologist draws blood, collects, processes and stores specimens.

Medical Technologist Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs venipunctures, nasal, nasopharyngeal and throat swabs.
  • Performs routine chemical, hematologic, and other general laboratory test procedures.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of laboratory techniques.
  • Collects, processes, and stores specimens.
  • Operates and maintains clinical laboratory equipment.
  • Performs and reviews quality controls in testing.
  • Able to identify and appropriately address problems adversely affecting test results.
  • Follows all policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records.
  • Follows oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with various external and internal customers.
  • Other duties as assigned

    • Requirements

    The ideal Medical Technologist candidate will possess :

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician (must be certified)
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology / Medical Laboratory Science or a related science field.
  • Certification by one of the following : Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT)- Department of Health Services (HHS) formally (HEW), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Medical Technologist (MT) - American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • 5 years of related medical technology experience.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • A professional attitude and appearance.
