GENERAL SUMMARY
The Certified Pharmacy Technician-Sterile Products performs all duties in the Pharmacy Department that do not require a licensed professional, including accurately preparing sterile compounded products in compliance with USP and ALBOP requirements, as well as performing all cleaning and proper techniques required to be USP compliant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting pharmacists and other pharmacy techs with preparation, compounding, and disposal of sterile, hazardous, and nonhazardous drug products in compliance with USP and ALBOP requirements, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Performing daily, weekly, monthly, and terminal cleaning, sanitation, monitoring, testing, and maintenance of equipment and rooms, including maintaining sterile compounding logs.
- Assistance with maintaining inventory control, ensuring that patient care is not adversely affected.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
o Currently certified as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht or ExCPT) by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Active certification is required prior to the date of hire.
Preferred Experience:
o At least 1 year of experience working in an IV Room
o At least 2 years of experience with preparing and compounding sterile, hazardous, and non-hazardous drug products.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This role is on-site at Cooper Green, and works in an office, typically while sitting at a desk or table, with trips to a stockroom.
- While the Pharmacy Tech does not have the responsibility of direction of other employees (no direct or indirect reports), there are times that they may be required to orient or train other employees.
- There are times that this role will have access to private information or personal data, requiring discretion.
- This role does require extensive safety training, due to exposure to chemicals; handling controlled substances, such as pharmaceutical, radiological, or hazardous materials; and a high-noise environment.
- This role may require occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., and periods of sitting, standing, walking, and stooping.
