GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, provides a variety of specialized services in support of the operations of Imaging Department. May check in scheduled and add-on patients to the clinic, answer telephone and route calls, enter demographic, insurance and charge data into system. Check patients out of the clinic and perform patient follow-up as necessary. May perform other clerical duties related to collection, deposit & recording of clinic revenue. Consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Obtains and/or ensures all insurance and patient demographic, eligibility information & enrollment status/insurance information is correct.
2. Verifies receipt of all encounter forms by comparing encounter form to the NextGen encounter manager screen.
3. Verifies information on encounter form is accurate and complete (i.e., pre-certification, and/or referral information if applicable).
4. Releases radiology orders in NextGen and verifies that they accurately interface to the Radiology PACS worklist. Ensures accuracy of demographic, provider and order information in both systems
5. Accurately schedules return or follow-up appointments with appropriate NextGen data, including ancillary visits or tests as indicated on the patient encounter form or notifies scheduler of patient’s needs.
6. Collects co-pays and other monies owed by patient (documents on system under financial comments any reasons monies not collected).
7. Responsible for handling cash as well as other types of payments
8. Accountable for following all procedures and protocol related to issuing receipts, making deposits and documenting transactions appropriately and within the required timeframes.
9. Answers phone & take complete, accurate messages. Makes sure messages are routed to appropriate person in a timely manner.
10. Provides information as requested to scheduling or referral management personnel to expedite pre-certification with insurance company or referrals for outside testing.
11. Coordinate referral or pre-certification with insurance company or designated scheduling personnel in referring clinic.
12. Fulfill requests for film-based and digital imaging records for internal and external customers by pulling and filing films, digitizing films, creating media and transmitting images.
13. Coordinates patient financial issues with social workers or enrollment when necessary.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. College degree or relevant coursework may substitute for part of experience requirement.
Must: (1) Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management; (3) be able to perform math & bookkeeping skills; (5) possess exceptional telephone & customer service skills; and (5) be knowledgeable of English grammar & punctuation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
The work location for this role is onsite.
