Cooper Machine Company, Inc. is a custom manufacturer of sawmill equipment. Cooper Machine manufacturers a variety of different equipment, so there will be a wide variety of parts to fabricate for the equipment we build.
Job Description
The preferred Candidate should have 1-3 years practical experience and be a highly motivated, self-starter who responds well to coaching and supervision, and should be an active team player that is reliable and accountable in every aspect of their job.
- Fabrication involves laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals to create the desired shape or object
- Building mechanical parts for equipment from metal and repairing parts as needed
- Builds hydraulic cylinders
- Coordinates with the machine shop and production
- Removes rough spots and smooths surfaces to fit, trim, or clean parts or components, using hand tools and power tools.
- Inspects Work - Work must be inspected to ensure good welds.
- Successful Builders enjoy working with their hands and have an analytical mind. They can physically meet the demands of the job and have an eye for detail. They have an ability to use variety of tools and equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Job hours are Monday – Thursday 7-4:30 and Friday 7-12 with one hour of overtime weekly.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Knowledge of MIG welding
- Ability to use torches, welding equipment and fitting and modifying components as needed.
- Ability to use heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes
- Keeps up with time spent on individual jobs
- Keeps an efficient and clean work area
- Follows all safety procedures and corrects or reports any safety issues to Manager
Physical Requirements:
· Understanding of construction tasks and industrial processes.
· Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
· Must be able to traverse facilities by balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred; 1-3 years practical work experience required
