Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add a Geologist III to our firm. This position provides a key project management, technical resource, and mentoring role in our Portland office. This position is full time, exempt.
- 7 years direct experience in environmental consulting
- Demonstrate competence with and ability to train others on a wide-range of environmental sampling and cleanup activities and protocols
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geology
- Currently licensed as geologist in Oregon and Washington
- Hold current HAZWOPER training
- Competency in the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook,
- Able to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, government officials, and stakeholders
General Responsibilities are:
- Develop technical scopes of work and cost estimates for complex investigation and cleanup sites; provide scope details in client-appropriate format
- Prepare feasibility studies and more complex reports related to investigation and remediation projects
- Design and cost remedial actions, coordinating with experienced engineering staff
- Lead projects and teams to ensure the execution of multiple tasks and that project work is done accurately, timely, and to specifications or client requests
- Perform all aspects of project management from initial setup, project coordination, and monthly invoicing to project closeout
- Responsible for project performance to assure that labor and other costs stay within approved funding and the approved scope of work is delivered successfully and on time
- Actively participate in Akana’s marketing and business development efforts
- Participate in industry events and conferences to promote Akana
The salary for this position is competitive and based on experience, location and education. Range is $85 to $110K. Hybrid work is negotiable; this position requires at least 50% presence in the Portland office.
