Job Overview:
The Machinist plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, operating machinery to produce precision parts. They are responsible for ensuring the safe operation of machines and meeting production specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Machinist II will be responsible for the following:
Operate CNC lathes and mills to machine parts according to specifications
Conduct ongoing dimensional inspections and document results
Monitor machine operation, ensuring proper functionality
Maintain a clean work area and adhere to safety protocols
Manufacture parts to the required quantity and document processes in the ERP system
Inspect parts using precision tools like micrometers and calipers
Set up and operate machines independently for precision part production
Read and interpret part routing, drawings, and specifications
Identify and change worn inserts as necessary
Adjust machine offsets and complete change-over activities
Produce first article parts, inspect them, and ensure documentation completion
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED
Proficiency in using precision measuring tools
Physical ability to lift at least 70 pounds and perform labor
Adaptability to evolving work requirements in a team environment
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and crane
Ability to read and understand instructions, quality control, and safety guidelines
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Basic math and computer skills
Familiarity with various types of metal-cutting machinery
