What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grain Elevator Superintendent position at Cooperative Grain and Supply, Bazine Kansas?
Cooperative Grain and Supply (CGS) has an opening for an entry level or seasoned Grain Elevator Superintendent. CGS is located in west central Kansas and offers services in grain storage and marketing, agronomy, feed and owns a service station.
SUMMARY
The Elevator Superintendent is responsible for the management of elevator operations including effective and efficient grain handling, housekeeping, and general maintenance within the grain storage facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dumps grain and loads trucks in a prompt, courteous, and efficient manner.
- Inspects grain for insects, moisture, and foreign material while unloading trucks. Responds appropriately to issues and keeps management informed.
- Assists in maintaining accurate commodity charts and records – including contents of storage bins, grain samples, grain temperatures, etc.
- Performs grain handling duties including receiving, blending, drying, treating, shipping, and aerating as directed.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all state and federal regulations pertaining to a safe workplace, housekeeping, and all activities that require regulatory compliance within the grain storage facility.
- Assists with the basic maintenance and repairs of equipment – including cleaning inside pits and grain bins - report issues to management in a timely manner.
- Responsible for daily operational duties including, but not limited to, cleaning, inspecting, preparation of equipment and supplies, and documentation.
- Assists with the outside maintenance and upkeep of general cooperative facilities – including mowing, painting, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises elevator operators who are responsible for elevator operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, praising, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes, or other job-related education requirements or opportunities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age. Forklift certification or the ability to obtain and maintain. 7B Grain Treatment Certification
