The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for monitoring, adjusting, and maintaining injection molding machinery to ensure the highest levels of quality and productivity. This role requires an acute understanding of plastics material behavior, thermodynamics, and injection mold designs. This role will provide support for the operations and engineering departments at CooperSurgical Stafford, Tx Facility.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities for the Injection Molding Process Tech:
· Setup, troubleshoot, and optimize injection molding processes.
· Document process parameters and inspection data.
· Implement process modifications and improvements.
· Conduct regular maintenance checks and minor adjustments on injection molding equipment.
· Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards.
· Collaborate with quality control, production, and engineering teams.
· Support daily molding operations.
· Install and remove molding dies from machines, including auxiliaries and automation.
· Perform minor cleaning and adjustments on molding dies, auxiliaries, and automation as needed.
· Stop production flow to correct quality issues and document findings and/or adjustments in the designated log.
· Verify process parameters and set up machines according to setup sheets.
· Address and fix scrap issues in a timely manner.
· Assist the Process Engineer in ensuring smooth operations.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment.
· Change and set up raw materials (dryers, color feeders, silicone, silicone colorant, etc.).
· Proactively find solutions to problems.
· Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

The Injection Molding Process Tech reports to the Engineering Supervisor.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards, such as ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Strong understanding of injection molding machines, tooling, and related processing equipment.
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in medical devices, such as medical-grade polymers and resins.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot molding process issues effectively.
- Skilled in identifying process improvements, optimizing cycle times, and reducing variability.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and quickly adjust to changes in project priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, leaders, and supervisors.
- Passion for improving processes, reducing waste, and enhancing quality.
- Understand of the operation of the Injection molding machines (for thermoplastics and LSR materials).
- Computer skills , to provide daily activities reports and request/full fit PM Orders Request
Work Environment:
· In-person job base schedule is Monday to Thursday, 40 hrs. per week at the at Cooper Surgical location in Stafford, Tx. Flexibility is based on production demands often outside of base schedule hours, as needed.
· Working with various sizes and shapes of tooling daily, up to 50 pounds.
· Standing regularly at long intervals and lifting/moving objects throughout the day.
· Regular use of computer terminals.
· Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be able to work 10-hour shifts (Day or Night) and overtime.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required, associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance highly recommended.
- 3-5 years of experience as Injection Molding Process Technician is preferred.
- In lieu of Injection Molding Process experience, 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment with direct experience in technical processes.
- Scientific injection molding is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanic and hand tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills.
- Certified to use overhead cranes or ability to take training to get certified.
