Job Summary:
The Director of Benefits & Compensation develops and administers all benefits and compensation programs designed to attract and retain team members. This position ensures benefits and compensation programs and policies are compliant with federal and state regulations. This position will be the liaison with our broker and will monitor trends and will provide recommendations to enhance benefit offerings that support the wellbeing of our employees and their families while working within budget constraints.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Lead a team of Benefit Mangers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Senior Vice President Human Resources, lead the overall design, Request for Proposal (RFP) and vendor selection for health and welfare, disability, worker’s compensation, and retirement plans. advisor.
- Manage health and welfare plans, design and offerings while managing and controlling overall costs. Work closely with the benefits broker and benefit vendors to recommend plan changes and enhancements. Oversee the annual Open Enrollment including updates and creating enrollment communication.
- Prepares and implements health and welfare budget.
- Oversee all leave programs. Provide oversight to third-party leave administrator and counsel team members on leave policies and process.
- Oversee the accommodation request process.
- Manage compensation programs and provide technical guidance to Human Resources and business leaders.
- Perform job analysis on all new and redefined positions, assign appropriate pay grades, and recommend salary adjustments within stated guidelines.
- Manage the 401k retirement plan providing technical expertise and guidance to team members. Ensure plan is compliant with ERISA regulations and in accordance with the Plan Document.
- Manage the annual 401k audit and 5500 filing. Complete annual compliance testing and true-up calculation.
- Serve as the Wellness Program Champion.
- Lead, manage, support, and provide development opportunities to Benefits Managers.
- Provide vision, inspiration, and trust in managing direct reports to ensure staff obtain and can clearly communicate organizational and departmental goals and metrics and take ownership of work product.
- Participate in department, cross-departmental, and organization-wide projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License from New York, or a contiguous state (i.e., Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont) OR must have the ability to take ample public transportation to attend meetings in person in the community and in the office as needed.
- Must reside within 100 miles of their assigned office hub location.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or a related field with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of varied Human Resources experience
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience administering compensation and benefits.
- Minimum five (5) years leading, supervising, and/or managing others.
- Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete goals and projects independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization composed of a wide variety of individuals.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Salary : $90,000 - $95,000
