Job Summary :
The Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, PTA or OTA will therapy treatments and procedures. The therapist m ay, in accordance with state laws, assist in development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, direct activity programs, and document the progress of treatments.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Select s therapy activities to fit patients’ needs and capabilities. Observe s and record s patients’ progress, attitudes, and behavior, and maintain s this information in client records.
Communicate s and collaborate s with other health care professionals involved with the care of a patient.
Instruct s or assist s in instructing patients and families in home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment. Implement s or assist s occupational therapists with implementing treatment plans to help clients function independently.
Assesses daily living skills and capacities of physically, developmentally or emotionally disabled clients. Aid s patients in dressing and grooming.
Assemble s , clean s , and maintain s equipment and materials for patient use.
Demonstrate s therapy techniques such as manual and creative arts or games.
Teach es patients how to deal constructively with their emotions.
Attend s care plan meetings to review patient progress and update care plans.
Required Skills / Abilities :
K nowledge and skills to care for patient needs of the SNF population
Must possess problem solving skills to successfully perform job
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong customer service orientation.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees, patients, and family members
Ability to travel as needed to perform job
Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment.
Education and Experience :
Associate ’s degree or higher from a n accredited therapy program
Current state licensure
Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards
Physical Requirements :
Duties require extensive standing and walking.
Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and / or transferring patients.
Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
