What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skilled Nursing Home Medicare Biller position at Coos County Nursing Home?
Bills all private pay residents, including sending statements, keeping track of monies owed and paid. Maintains close contact with the residents and/or resident families on issues related to Nursing Home billing. Assist families/DPOA’s with preparing to file for Medicaid for residents. Works with the New Hampshire Department of Human Services for resident Medicaid medical and financial eligibility, and redetermination of same benefits every year thereafter. Works with Social Security Administration filing Representative Payee Report; notifies them of discharges. Generates monthly billing of all Medicaid residents, including tracking of payments received, denied, or in-process; rebills as necessary. Calculates and tracks the residents’ financial liability to the Nursing Home based on their income received at the nursing home; tracks any changes in the residents’ monthly income/expenses. Checks the status of potential Medicare A residents regarding eligibility for services via provided computer program. Generates monthly billing of all Medicare A & B residents, tracking of payments posted by Accounts Receivable, denied or in process; re-bills if necessary. Reviews all ancillary bills for Medicare residents for accuracy and completeness to assure Medicare billing accuracy. Works with State of NH Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Units re: violation of resident rights investigations, etc. Refers computer technical issues to I.T. person or Assistant to the Administrator. Adds new users to the billing software system; assigns passwords and user ID’s to staff members; responsible for security of same. Makes suggestions regarding improvements in software and hardware. Provides backup coverage for the following duties during vacations/illnesses: resident’s personal accounts, telephone coverage, sorting and distributing mail, distributing employee paychecks, greeting and assisting visitors.
