Job Title: Lab Technician
Job Summary: Full-time position for Lab Technician located in Springfield, Illinois. This position will be responsible for maintaining CoPack lab operations and processing material through ethanol extraction and distillation. Performs safe and effective conversion of cannabis materials into high quality cannabis extracts.
Salary Range: $20-$25 / hour based on experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensures all extraction duties are safely conducted in full compliance with all state cannabis regulations.
· Executes biomass processing, ethanol extraction, decarboxylation, distillation, product formulation, and manufacturing procedures in an efficient manner that complies with GMP standards, safety measures, CoPack SOP’s and all applicable laboratory procedures.
· Ensures processing is executed in accordance with business plans in order to meet revenue and production commitments.
· Ensures compliance and accuracy in all product tracking, product security, and product movement.
· Performs in-process and post-process quality assurance testing to ensure products meet standards for consumption.
· Performs on-going equipment maintenance and cleaning in accordance with CoPack’s manufacturing SOPs.
· Monitors and manages lab and processing equipment supplies and inventory.
· Participate in cross training opportunities to minimally learn the least-skilled position in the grow and cannery operations and substitute as business needs dictate in those positions.
Working Environment:
- Uneven surfaces, stand/sit for long periods of time, bending/stooping, or hard surfaces.
- Operation of mobile elevated work platforms as well as forklifts.
- Lifting up to 50lbs.
- Working in a cultivation environment, which can include no natural light, varying temperatures, and louder than normal ambient noise.
- Working in a manufacturing environment near machinery and processes, which require specific training and safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in cannabis extraction or in a related area preferred.
- Familiarity with standard lab concepts, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of extraction operations and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and have the ability to contribute to production optimization.
- Ability to multitask.
- Valid driver’s license, depending on the location.
- Ability to pass a background check and dependent on receiving a state-issued badge.
