What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Manager, IC position at Copart, Inc?
Copart, Inc. a technology leader and the premier online vehicle auction platform globally, with over 200 facilities located across the world, Copart links vehicle sellers to more than 750,000 buyers in over 190 countries. We believe in providing an unmatched experience, every day and everywhere, driven by our people, processes, and technology.
Join our rapidly growing product management team at Copart (CPRT), where we're seeking experienced Staff Product Managers to lead our strategy, tactics and execution.
Copart has already built a business model that drives over $1 billion in cash flow each year and is now scaling the customer experience of our buyers, sellers, and partners to be world class. We no longer compare ourselves to competitors in our own business – having already transformed our corner of the industry. We are now working backwards from the customer, competing with ourselves to rebuild our current experiences and expand into adjacent businesses – creating high bar products and services that will transform the broader used vehicles industry.
Job Description:
Our product management team is a fast-moving group of hustlers that build and analyze to drive outcomes – not to burn meaningful hours on academic exercises. That does not mean we don’t communicate clearly, dive deep, or document – it means that we do these things in service of the result we’re chasing. We are more startup than we are corporate.
In this role, you will build a vision for your product(s), develop a one-year operating plan, setup the appropriate mechanisms to get a result and execute aggressively. You will be working with our business and engineering leadership, extensively, in order to achieve high bar outcomes. As part and parcel of this work, you will use the mechanisms you have built and your own ability to influence to surmount roadblocks and do so while building trust across the organization. Though we do not expect people in this role to have direct technical education, they must be deeply comfortable working with and challenging technical partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deeply understand the needs of our customers through quantitative, qualitative and quant on qual methodologies.
- Define a compelling vision and product strategy for parts of our online auction platform or other novel products and services.
- Set clear goals, working backwards from output metrics tied with our P&L to input levers that drive those metrics. Frame 80% of your initiatives around those goals.
- Take ownership of roadmaps for those products and services – driving alignment and execution and building with a balanced understanding of customer needs biasing for concrete rather over vague return on investment estimates.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, legal, customer service, marketing and other leaders to enhance customer engagement and retention to plan and execute aggressively.
Locations:
- Dallas,
- Hyderabad,
- Rare remote exceptions made.
Required Qualifications:
- 4 years of product or program management experience.
- Strong orientation to and intuitive understanding of analytics.
- Ability to think at 20k feet and operate at 20cm.
- Build thoughtful product requirements with clear user stories, interaction statements, and analytics event definitions.
- Build and/or adapt to lightweight mechanisms such as Postmortems, BiWeekly Updates, MBRs and QBRs, to drive alignment and escalations across the business.
- Clear writing and direct but polite communication
