What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Associate Attorney position at Copeland, Cook, Taylor & Bush, P.A.?
Established defense firm of over 40 years seeks associate attorney with litigation experience. Must be licensed in MS and capable of handling diverse caseloads. Should be detail-oriented with superior communication and organizational skills; should be able to use technology efficiently and be proficient in entering time for the work performed.
Minimum of 2 two years’ experience working in general litigation or insurance defense litigation. Potential to work closely with senior partners; opportunities for mentorship and courtroom experience.
Duties:
- Developing defense plan with lead attorney and collaborating with other attorneys and support staff
- Conduct fact investigation and witness interviews
- Handling discovery including preparing & responding to written discovery and taking & defending depositions
- Conduct thorough legal research & analysis to support case preparation and strategy
- Draft legal documents, including motions, and pleadings, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal standards
- Attend hearings, depositions, mediations and participating in trial, when necessary
- Preparing status reports to clients as the litigation
- Assist in the development of legal strategies for clients
Skills:
- Proficient in legal drafting and writing skills
- Experience with legal research methodologies and tools, particularly Lexis-Nexis
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with colleagues
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced law office environment
