Position Description

If you are a manufacturing professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland Compressors has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in Lebanon, MO you will work as part of the Continuous Improvement team to accomplish the manufacturing goals of safety, quality, efficiency, and cost. You will supervise key manufacturing objectives and develop and execute projects that align with company’s performance goals.

As An Lean Manufacturing Engineer You Will

  • Assists Copeland Business System Site Leader in developing Lean strategy for plant-wide implementation.
  • Has knowledge of and experience with Lean Principles and methodologies: Waste Elimination, Value Stream Mapping, 5S 1, Kanban Pull System, and Quick Changeover.
  • Is a problem solver and proficient in Structured Problem-Solving methods: PDCA, Six Sigma, 8D.
  • Analyzes and builds Standardized Work and Work Instructions to optimize process efficiencies in production, material flow, and equipment layouts.
  • Develop and lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives (to improve efficiency, Manufacturing Cycle Time (MCT), Machine Changeover, and Inventory Control) and be able to train associates.
  • Plans, charters, implements, and sustains key facility, operations, and warehouse projects (e.g., recycling management, line rate improvement, and storage capacity utilization)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • 4 years: Formal Education Equivalent on the Job Experience counts!
  • 1-3 years of industrial/quality/continuous improvement/manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment along with knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent communication (listening, meeting facilitation, project report-outs, etc.).
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Structured Problem Solving / Lean Six-Sigma.
  • Project Management Experience
  • Proficient with a host of software packages including Minitab, Visio, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

  • 5 years of relevant experience in a high-volume, discreet manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Relevant Field
  • Industrial Engineering Experience such as Routers, Costing and Time Studies
  • Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APICS, or Other Manufacturing Related Certifications
  • Capital equipment procurement experience, including specification, purchase, qualification, and installation crouch, use a ladder and talk/hear.
  • Experience in setting up new processes or production lines is a plus.

Work Schedule

  • Our teams work together to ensure their chosen work schedules are supporting our customers. These jobs typically work a 5-day work week. Some overtime hours and travel will be needed.

Our plant in Lebanon, MO is Copeland’s flagship operation for scroll compressor assembly and a machining powerhouse for main bearing housings and scroll elements, with over 74 million scroll compressors produced in the past 27 years.
