This position has a broad knowledge of all HR functions, with excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in human resources with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience.

- Conducts compensation and classification reviews; performs job analyses; establishes job requirements and standards; develops job descriptions and determines the appropriate classification and placement of jobs.
- Manages employee FMLA and personal leave of absence programs.
- Oversees the retirement plan in coordination with our benefits broker and third party administrator for the 403(b) and 457(b).
- Assists in new employee onboarding and orientation.
- Conducts exit interviews and reports trends to senior leadership.
- Actively participates in special committees, such as Employee Wellness and employee recognition and events.
- Oversees workers compensation and employee injury program.
- Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
- Reviews, updates and creates policies as needed.
- Address a wide range of complex problems and assist in the resolution of employee relations issues and mediate disputes and provide expert advice and coaching to employees and managers.
- Leads special projects and assignments with a high degree of skill and expertise.
- Collaborate with HR team to ensure appropriate level of department coverage, and provide backup to team members when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills. Must be an effective team player.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent related work experience
- 5 years of experience as an HR Generalist or Manager role
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, applicant tracking and HRIS systems.
- A high level of integrity, ethics, and judgment.
- Professional certification (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.
- Experience in a union environment is preferred.
