What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Maintenance position at Copper River Country Club?

Copper River Country Club is an established, exclusive private club located in Northeast Fresno and we have immediate openings for Golf Course Maintenance Staff/Groundskeepers. A Groundskeeper is required to be able to complete a large variety of tasks throughout the day. Groundskeeper tasks can be generally categorized as manual labor and are related to landscaping. Landscape maintenance tasks include: operating different types of walking lawn mowers, raking of debris, use of string trimmers, operation of powered debris blowers, and operation of other motorized equipment. Tasks specific to golf course maintenance include: raking bunkers, mowing greens, changing hole locations, hand watering, blowing debris, filling ball washers, moving tee markers, etc. Groundskeepers must have a valid driver license and be able to drive various types of golf carts and utility vehicles in order to complete the above tasks. In addition, Groundskeepers are often called upon to complete or assist in all tasks on the course including: special projects, irrigation repair, fertilizer and chemical applications, and other general maintenance tasks. Groundskeepers primarily work under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. Occasionally groundskeepers may work under the supervision of a Foreman or Equipment Operator.
Ideal candidates for these positions are reliable, responsible, energetic, detail-oriented, and observant with a positive, "can do" attitude. General knowledge of landscape equipment is preferred but not required. Experience preferred.
Required skills include:
- Must be reliable and dependable
- Availability and willingness to work early mornings, and alternating weekends
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to take direction
- Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds unassisted as necessary
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision
- Ability to spend up to 2-4 hours on your feet at a time
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to handle outdoor shifts of 8 hours
- Valid California Driver License
- High school diploma/GED preferred but not required
- Must be proficient in English (Verbal and Written)
