- Complete rounding in ECT suite, complete 15-minute checks on inpatient round sheet, monitors for contraband, evaluates for change in condition and report to the RN/LVN.
- Adheres to tasks delegated by the RN/LVN/Providers related to the care of the patients including, but not limited to vital signs, specimen collection, documentation, and patient monitoring. Responsible for reporting any change in condition (medical or psychiatric) to RN/LVN/Provider.
- Provides pertinent feedback to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding patient response to treatment interventions that assists in the development and revision of the treatment plan.
- Prep each patient bed and work areas for ECT procedure. Prep patient in procedure area prior to treatment (apply EEG leads, B/P cuff and pulse oximeter).
- Ensure all appropriate documents are reviewed, completed, and signed.
- Comply with the established policy and procedure requiring a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. (Conducts unit safety checks each shift).
- Assist with patient discharge, including but not limited to, ensure patient has adequate transportation home, discharge paperwork is complete, and escorting patients to his/her ride home.
- Documents in the Medical Record according to established policies. File, copy, and prep charts, pull charts for next treatment day.
- Complies with hospital policy, OSHA and CDC guidelines regarding the collection of various specimens.
- Ventilate patients while under general anesthesia, check and replace O2 tanks as needed.
- High school degree or degree from an accredited college. Combination of education and relevant work experience may be required. Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred, ECT experience preferred.
- EMT certification, ACLS certification, or Paramedic license required. Will require valid driver’s license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using personal or hospital owned vehicle.
- CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
- Completion of additional age specific training within 30 days of employment as required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Where applicable, must obtain and maintain agency affiliation
- May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
