CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for and Underwriting (UW) Systems Analyst II. The UW Systems Analyst II works closely with other Underwriting Systems analysts, Product analysts and various stakeholders to implement, maintain and enhance multiple commercial insurance products on underwriting systems. This position supports documentation of business requirements for the product set, answers questions from developers/QA during sprint development and performs all aspects of user acceptance testing. The UW Systems Analyst II also fields PolicyCenter service requests from the business end users and participates in the development of PolicyCenter training, including performing demos. This business role promotes underwriting integrity, regulatory compliance, efficient workflows and good user experience in product implementations that meet the needs of the internal system users and facilitate the company’s expansion and strategic initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to standards and follows best practices for processes governing requirement development, defect reporting, user acceptance testing and UW system troubleshooting.
  • Remembers the common and product-specific systems functions that support the creation and maintenance of commercial insurance policies. Demonstrates comprehension of key components, their functions and interactions. Articulates in system and business terminology.
  • Performs user acceptance testing for scheduled releases and large project implementations. With limited supervision, designs effective test cases for multiple system capabilities (rates, rules, forms, user interface, data validation, workflows) for commercial insurance products based on documented requirements. Supports implementation of metrics to measure progress. Provides feedback to others regarding test case scenarios. Opens defects and performs re-testing within desired timeframes.
  • Independently prepares business requirements for new and revised commercial insurance forms, underwriting referral rules and system tasks.
  • Performs production issue triage, validates requirements, submits defects when needed, and communicates status and resolution within target SLA. Gathers data as needed to assist prioritization and trending. Supports execution of known workarounds and may define new workarounds. Escalates and prioritizes appropriately.
  • Familiar with the unique needs of the various internal system user groups and roles. Participates in meetings with appropriate stakeholders to elicit feedback.
  • Supports development of effective training content and resources. Drafts training scripts & other resources/job aides needed to implement processes and support underwriting/operations. Performs system demos as prescribed.
  • Supports assembly of clear and comprehensive business requirements/acceptance criteria for IT and vendors including review of QA test cases. Assembles internal data on business and system rules.
  • Implements PolicyCenter and 3rd party underwriting/product system access requests and completes bi-annual user access audits.
  • Supports changes to some rules enforced via policy admin tables controlled by the UW Systems & Product team.
  • Provides process improvement suggestions. Participates in retrospectives and supports implementation of changes



Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Requires High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in commercial insurance.
  • College degree and/or professional insurance certifications desirable
  • Job-related commercial insurance experience preferred.
  • Ideal candidate possesses:

    • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing

    • Ability to exercise proper judgment and decision-making to plan and accomplish goals and escalate problems
    • Adaptability and willingness to accept and champion change
    • Organizational skills to manage the demands of the job and ensure deadlines are met
    • Strong research skills, ability to determine and utilize appropriate internal and external resources to conduct research
    • Understands insurance workflows
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including deployment evenings/weekend, as needed


Salary Range:

  • $61,000.00 - $91,000.00 annually
  • Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.

  • We provide some benefits at no cost to the employee (Basic Life Insurance and AD&D at two times an employee’s annual salary, Short- and Long-term Disability coverage, and Employee Assistance Plan).
  • Employees will accrue 0.0769 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 20 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
