What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customs Entry Writer / Import Coordinator position at Coppersmith Global Logistics?
We have a new opportunity for an experienced Import Entry Writer to join our Seattle, WA team. This position is point of contact managing documentation and the clearance of import shipments. The ideal candidate will have minimum 7 years customs brokerage experience, international logistics & transportation experience, PGA experience and a demonstrated knowledge in operational clearance of import shipments in compliance with U.S.CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, and other regulating agencies. Strong organizational, documentation and client interaction skills are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinates the release of goods with carriers, CBP, and other governmental agencies as required; ensures compliance of government regulations at all times.
- Tracks and monitors incoming shipments and ETA's regarding import cargo movement; arranges for pick-up and transfer of cargo.
- Updates shipment status, issues arrival notices and obtains entry documents for customs entries.
- Prepares required import documentation, classification, and submission to CBP.
- Prepares documentation from overseas agents.
- Quotes and provides accurate rates to clients.
- Processes ISF filings and communicates with customs to confirm release status of commodities.
- Tariff classification.
- Serves as a liaison to the customer regarding all shipment details; proactively engages customer through regular contact via phone, e-mail, fax, or in-person visit.
- Assist in cross-training of new employees and provide routine direction to import staff.
- Attend offsite training, trade shows, and/or networking events to stay knowledgeable with industry trends and engage new business opportunities that support business strategies.
- Assist in providing training and knowledge to the import team on areas that support job duties, compliance requirements, SOP’s, and other functions constructive to business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years U.S. Customs Brokerage experience. License preferred.
- Knowledge of import regulatory documentation requirements preferred including: Arrival Notices, Bills of Lading, Commercial invoices, Harmonized Tariff codes, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in operational clearance of import shipments in compliance with U.S.CBP regulations and other PGA’s including FDA, USDA, and EPA & DOT.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; specifically excel, outlook, office, TEAMS, SharePoint, OneNote
- FCL and LCL Experience.
- Knowledge of compliance training and department processes.

- The ability to sit or stand for long periods, and use a computer, including mouse, keyboard and monitor. Minor lifting may be required (under 20lbs) as well as filing, the use of a telephone, copy machine/printer, and other office tools on a regular basis.
Standard business operating hours: Mon- Fri. 08:00 - 17:00 (occasional OT hours on as needed basis)
