POSITION SUMMARY:
Job responsibilities of this position will include providing support to the Quality Department in meeting and exceeding plant wide objectives as well as departmental objectives. This position requires professional interaction with Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Sales, 3rd party Auditors, and Customers. Key tasks are to provide technical evaluations of Copperweld produced products, processes, processing methods, and supplied raw materials and components to assure quality standards are achieved and maintained per the Copperweld Quality Management System requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
¨Operate and utilize lab equipment including OES testing, SEM, metallograph, tensile testers, and other equipment required to conduct laboratory testing.
¨Conduct process audits and dock audits evaluating product characteristics and process characteristics
¨Conduct Receiving Inspections per requirements
¨Conduct Special Characteristic inspections as required
¨Perform data analysis to determine current state conditions
¨Provide reports as necessary to the Quality Manager
¨Conduct metallurgical failure analyses of materials and components.
¨Conduct 5S Audits and participate in 5S activities to ensure continuous improvement
¨Calculate daily, weekly, monthly Internal PPM and provide reports
¨Create weekly and monthly reports for Internal Corrective action status (open, closed, past due)
¨Update and maintain Quality Informational Boards
¨Kaizen team champion and or facilitator
¨Provide problem solving support i.e., 8D, 5 Why’s
¨Create and post Internal Quality Alerts as needed, maintain Quality Alert board
¨Monitor and assist with the disposition of RMA’s as needed
¨Maintain control over test lab to ensure equipment is maintained and facilities comply with 5S standards
¨Analyze, identify and implement process improvements to reduce quality issues and improve process capability and performance to enhance customer satisfaction
¨Perform tests and measurements using various measurement equipment
¨Interact effectively with internal and external customers, peers and associates
¨Other task within the scope of this position as deemed appropriate by the Quality Manager
OBJECTIVES:
¨Provide a comprehensive evaluation of products, materials, and processes to assure quality standards are achieved and maintained as per internal as well as customer requirements
¨Provide Metallographic sample preparation and analyses for copper, steel, and aluminum materials
¨Provide failure analyses of materials and products returned where applicable.
¨Conduct in-depth process audits of processing parameters, conditions, methods, and product analysis to assure quality conformance and identify opportunities for improvement
¨Lead, coordinate, and drive cross-functional teams (Kaizens) to successful resolutions
¨Maintain appropriate documented information and records
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

¨Experience in QA laboratory setting preferred
¨Knowledge of wire drawing processes preferred, including die theory and calculations
¨Ability to use simple and complex metrology lab measurement equipment
¨Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
¨Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
¨Excellent problem identification, planning and organization skills – time management
