The Department of Health and Health Education in the College of Health Professions at Coppin State University invites applications for one non-tenured earning 12-month instructor position. The instructor is responsible for teaching, planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum as a member of the HEED instructional team. Provides academic counseling and guidance to HEED students. Performs coordinator responsibilities as assigned. Applications are encouraged from candidates with expertise in healthcare delivery, lifestyle, social, and cultural factors that impact disease risk/progression and quality of life among vulnerable and marginalized populations.Responsibilities:
- Teach (online, day, evening, and weekend classes, as applicable), plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum as a member of health sciences team.
Coordinating with community health agencies utilized for practicum experiences and maintaining effective relations with them; Planning, supervising, and evaluating learning experiences for students in the practicum area; scheduling conferences with individual students regarding progress; - Participating in all School of Allied Health course team planning meetings and selected subcommittee within School of Allied Health and College of Health Professions; Participating actively in University, College, School and Community service and Activities;
- Maintaining own professional growth and remains current in health science-related discipline.
- Provide academic counseling and guidance to Health and Health Education students and hold at minimum six (6) posted office hours per week on at least two different days.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s in health-sciences related discipline with at least 18 hours of graduate credits in health sciences, allied health, public health, or health services administration. Doctorate (Ph. D or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Experience :
- Practical experience in the health industry
- Strong team and collaboration skills
- A proficiency in teaching courses such as human sexuality, health and personal hygiene, drug abuse education, contemporary issues in health and health care delivery systems, as well as urban health.
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
- Knowledge of the development, implementation, and coordination of health practicum sites
- Ongoing maintenance of personal scholarship
- Assist the Department in strengthening its health sciences curriculum with teaching responsibilities that enhance allied health specializations.
- Contribute to the Department’s core and elective curriculum for the major and general education offerings, as well as cross-disciplinary curricula.
- Participate in Department duties, such as committee work, student advising, student recruitment, ongoing training in pedagogy, and curriculum development.
