Water Management Control Field Superintendent

Job Overview:

Responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations for Coquina Water Control District. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing employees, training and overseeing all projects from start to finish.

The Coquina Water Control District is a governmental agency whose mission is water control, drainage and easement maintenance (dirt roads and ditches) in rural Okeechobee County, Florida. We’re on a mission to find the ideal operational leader to run field operations. This position reports to the District Board of Supervisors Chairman. The role requires coordination with the District’s Professional Engineer, Office Administrator and outside agencies such as the South Florida Water Management District.

Responsibilities:
Stormwater Management. Ensure the District’s stormwater runoff and drainage requirements are met or exceeded through maintenance and construction of swales, canals and retention structures. Road Maintenance, Construction and Quality Control. Ensure all easement ingress/egress (roads) conform to grading, accessibility and performance standards. Project Management, Documentation and Reporting. Launch, manage and report all projects and workflows; ensure performance goals are met or exceeded- On time, under budget, and exceeding Landowner expectations. Collaborate with engineering, intergovernmental agencies and Coquina Water Control District staff. Employee Management and Development. Set and achieve employee training and development goals. Fiscal Management- Operations and Capital Expenditures Assist in preparation of and help make the case for new project capital budgets. Assist in development of and meet departmental budgets.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision or related field. Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team of subcontractors and tradespeople. Proficient in reading blueprints, plans, and specifications. Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
