POSITION OVERVIEW
The Crisis Prevention and Intervention Specialist provides support during the cleanup of homeless encampments by assisting individuals experiencing homelessness, ensuring safety, and maintaining respectful interactions. This role also includes administrative responsibilities such as billing, timekeeping, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in crisis intervention, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Crisis Prevention and Intervention :
- Engage compassionately with individuals experiencing homelessness to de-escalate conflicts and maintain a safe environment during encampment cleanups.
- Provide information about local resources, including housing, social services, and healthcare options.
- Act as a mediator between cleanup teams, city representatives, law enforcement, and encampment residents to ensure smooth operations.
- Observe and report safety concerns, behavioral risks, or potential conflicts to management or law enforcement when necessary.
- Assess the houseless and staff to determine their needs.
