Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of CORA Services, which includes valuing all individuals, supporting an individual’s potential for growth, and enhancing a programmatic service system approach.
- Assess the functional abilities of students to determine program suitability and propose recommendations for treatment and appropriate assistive devices
- Collaborate with students, parents, educators, and other professionals to provide services and resolve challenges in compliance with established program guidelines; respond to inquiries from parents, teachers, students, and others as needed
- Instruct students in the use of various equipment and resources (e.g., tactile maps, models, low vision devices, adaptive mobility devices, tablet and mobile phone apps, etc.) to minimize adverse impact of visual impairments and help students reach their highest level of independence
- Train support staff, parents, and others to support students’ independent movements and to incorporate orientation and mobility techniques into daily classroom and home routines
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation for each student (e.g., service plans, progress reports, activity logs, billing information, etc.); ensure compliance with all program guidelines and that documentation is readily available for audit/inspection at all times
- Responsible for other tasks and procedures as appropriate for service delivery or as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in low vision education required; Master’s degree preferred
- PA Department of Education Instructional certification in vision instruction and certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist
- Experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist strongly preferred
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students and productive working relationships with parents, teachers and other staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Salary : $59,000 - $62,000
