ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
As the only agency in San Mateo County with the sole purpose of serving those experiencing intimate partner abuse, CORA provides safety, support and healing. CORA’s comprehensive services include a 24-hour hotline, collaboration with law enforcement, emergency shelter options, legal services and family-centered mental health therapy. In addition, CORA provides community education and prevention programming throughout the county. POSITION SUMMARY
The bi-lingual Child & Family Clinician will provide mental health assessments, individual, family, and group therapies to individuals and families who have been impacted by domestic violence. The Family Clinician will be stationed at CORA’s safe house and will be expected to travel to and from the Transitional Housing apartments, Emergency Safe houses, and Community office as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES
Clinical Services:
- Provide individual, group and family therapy.
- Support clients with psychotherapy services for approximately 60% of time devoted to direct client interaction. Supervision, case notes and other meetings will constitute about 40% of your time. Caseload numbers will vary based on complexity etc. Staff is responsible for working with supervisor to carry a load that utilizes this proportion of clinical to administrative time appropriately.
- Develop treatment plan and psychosocial assessment for each client on assigned case load.
- Participate in internal and external case consultations.
- Identify and translate clinical issues, including the contents of family therapy sessions to the staff.
- Assume leadership role in group counseling sessions.
- Provide referrals for external therapy whenever indicated.
- Implement evidence base therapy approach: EMDR, psychodynamic approach, CBT, family systems, structural family therapy, brief-psychotherapy, and also psycho-educational approaches.
- Maintain files for each client and keep them in compliance with BBS and agency standards.
Program Support:
- Provide support and education to non-offending parents.
- Conduct agency training on topics which relate to the special needs of the client population we serve.
- Advocate for services needed with county or other social service agencies.
- Work cooperatively with shelter staff, children’s program staff and volunteers.
- Complete special projects as required.
- Satisfy external administrative requirements as well as internal administrative demands in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Conduct regularly scheduled case conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings and reviews and ensure accuracy and quality of client charts and treatment plans, including collection of data for funding sources.
- Coordinate with agency staff and partner agencies regarding treatment planning, assessing progress and planning terminations.
- Create treatment plans.
- Write discharge and transfer summaries.
- Chart progress notes and maintain all records in accordance with agency policy.
- Maintaining accurate documentation for clients
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- License-eligible required (LCSW, MFT, AMFT, PsyD, LPCC, ASW, registered with the CA BBS). Licensed supervision will be available for AMFT and ASW. Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field required.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required: must be able to read, write, and speak in both languages.
- Experience working with survivors of trauma, specifically survivors of domestic violence.
- Trained in trauma informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Sandplay and/or Play Therapy, or trauma-informed practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Successful results upon hire from a DOJ Live Scan fingerprint clearance are required
- Completion of the 40 Hour Training – required and will be provided to the successful applicant upon hire if not already completed within last 5 years.

This position requires you to work with children, and your profession qualifies you as “mandated reporters” of child abuse or neglect, which is found in California Penal Code Section 11165.7. You are required to report suspected cases of abuse and neglect pursuant to California Penal Code Section 11166.5.
