Corbion is seeking a Bakery Scientist to join our Bakery Applications Team, a critical part of the Corbion RDA Food team. In this role you will play a key role in validating new technologies and developing new products for the baking industry. You will work with internal partners (Sales, Procurement, Operations, Product Management and Business Development) to lead and execute projects to deliver products that meet market and customer needs.

Requirements:

• Work as a technical leader and/or partner in cross-functional teams to deliver business needed results.
• Conduct and manage assigned projects independently including up front knowledge seeking, developing and executing technical plans, collecting and analyzing data, communicating project status and results internally and externally, generating reports and making presentations.
• Transfer bench top development to pilot scale production and to retail/wholesale manufacturing.
• Act as subject matter expert to customers in launching new products, giving trainings on new technologies, and helping trouble shoot problems and offer technical solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, Cereal Chemistry, or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years of technical experience/development work with a major food or food ingredient company. Master’s Degree, AIB, or CMB a plus, but not required.
• Broadly trained food science technologist with strong application knowledge in functional ingredients related to baking. This includes such categories as grains, flours, starches, fibers, sweeteners, hydrocolloids, lipids, enzymes, oxidation, emulsifiers, preservatives and leavening agents.
• Strong formulation and industrial processing knowledge relating to bakery products.
• Customer focused, able to build trusted relationship with customers and become their go-to expert.
• Strong people skills (both in leading a project and in working with peers and management) with open and clear communication skills.
• Proven success managing projects and using experimental design and statistical analysis.
