Summary:
Glaziers at Corcoran Glass & Paint are responsible for the preparation and installation of glass for many types of commercial use and across many industries. Examples of projects Glaziers may work on are windows, skylights, building fronts, interior walls, glass handrails, mirrors, doors, hardware, and other items involving glass and or aluminum. Glaziers are also sometimes involved with composite panel installation.
Reports To:
Job foreman reports to Project Manager; non-foreman report to job foreman
Job Responsibilities:
- Install aluminum framing level, plumb, and in the right location. Install all frames to meet the specification set forth.
- Safely and efficiently install glass into the framing.
- Safely and efficiently install doors, door hardware, and door lights.
- Measure dimensions of areas to determine work procedures.
- Read and interpret blueprints or specifications to determine the size, shape, color, type, or thickness of glass, location of framing, and installation procedures.
- Run caulk lines that are smooth, straight, and free of defects.
- Load and unload materials onto and off of company vehicles.
- Determine plumb of walls and/or ceilings using plumb lines or levels.
- Prepare and plan materials for the following day’s work when returning to work upon completing a shift.
- Maintain a safe and clean worksite.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Basic knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques used in construction
- Possess high attention to detail
- Ability to lift and handle heavy glass and commonly used equipment up to 100lbs
- Demonstrate initiative to identify what needs to be done and do it before being asked or required by the situation
- Ability to work in various weather conditions; a majority of work is done from the exterior
- Ability to work at various heights; projects may be completed using boom or scissors lifts
- Willingness to travel; some projects may require travel with overnight stays
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision while taking initiative and setting priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have transportation to and from work
- Must have a good previous work history
