Youth Services Coordinator
Responsible to: Director of Services
Pay Rate: $23 per hour plus benefits Pay Classification: Hourly, non-exempt Hours: 35.0 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00, occasional nights and weekends.
General Description: The Youth Services Coordinator will oversee and implement services for both the Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) and the Work Readiness and Preparation (WRAP) programs. This position involves working with students with disabilities aged 14-21 enrolled in high school or post-secondary educational programs, helping them develop independent living goals, employment readiness skills, and workplace exposure opportunities. Each task is aligned with either TAP or WRAP to ensure contract compliance and program-specific outcomes.
This position is subject to a CORI check.
Essential Functions by Program:
Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP):
· Review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure adequate transition services and to advocate for student rights.
· Work with students individually to establish and achieve independent living goals, focusing on employment readiness, financial literacy, and personal management.
· Engage participants in social and recreational activities that support independent living skills.
· Conduct outreach to schools and community organizations to recruit TAP participants.
· Facilitate informational workshops for students, families, school personnel, and service providers.
· Develop at least two community advocacy efforts annually focused on disability rights or educational access.
· Provide regular program updates via newsletters and social media.
· Ensure 100% of family members are invited to participate in a family-focused event.
Work Readiness and Preparation (WRAP):
· Conduct outreach to recruit a minimum of 25 participants annually and maintain referrals from MassAbility’s Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors.
· Provide soft skills training, workplace readiness, job exploration counseling, and self-advocacy training.
· Develop and adapt curriculum to meet participant needs in both virtual and in-person formats.
· Secure a minimum of 15 internship or job shadowing placements annually by building relationships with businesses.
· Monitor and support participants during internships, including conducting bi-weekly check-ins with employers.
· Create and distribute outreach and marketing materials for the internship program targeting students, families, and businesses.
· Provide counseling on post-secondary education and training opportunities.
Shared Functions (TAP and WRAP):
· Develop and implement lesson plans for group and individual instruction.
· Conduct regular assessments of participants to track progress and update records.
· Maintain detailed and timely documentation for both programs.
· Arrange for reasonable accommodations and effective communication for participants.
· Participate in organizational fundraising activities.
· Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.
Program Outcomes and Requirements:
· TAP:
o At least 90% of participants will establish Independent Living (IL) goals within one month of enrollment.
o At least 75% will make progress toward IL goals and participate in a community advocacy effort.
· WRAP:
o 80% of participants must successfully complete all WRAP services.
o At least 75% of participants will secure a referral to Vocational Rehabilitation services.
o At least 75% will complete an internship or job shadowing experience.
Primary Qualifications:
· Must be familiar with local resources for transitioning students.
· Must have working knowledge of special education and disability-related employment laws.
· Must have great organizational skills.
· Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to teach and interact through diverse technological social platforms (e.g., Zoom, Facebook, Instagram, and others as required).
· Proficient in basic computer programs such as MS Word and able to learn database software.
· Experience working with diverse populations and skill levels.
· Ability to travel across Cape Cod and to the Islands, with occasional off-Cape travel.
· Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends to accommodate student schedules.
· Experience in program coordination, youth services, or educational advocacy preferred.
· Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
