Landscaper/Custodian

Overview:

The position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and aesthetic appeal of the Racquet Sports Center’s indoor and outdoor facilities. This includes housekeeping duties as well as lawn and landscape care, ensuring that the grounds and facilities are in top condition for members, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and experience in both cleaning and landscaping tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Housekeeping Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks for all indoor and outdoor areas of the tennis/pickleball centers, including restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and common spaces.
• Sweep, mop, and sanitize floors, wipe down surfaces, and vacuum carpets as needed.
• Ensure all waste bins are emptied and dispose of trash/boxes appropriately.
• Clean and maintain windows, mirrors, light fixtures, and other equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of outdoor seating areas and Bocce Garden, including wiping down tables/chairs and using a blower to clear walkways and patios of debris.
• Ensure the availability of necessary cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages to the  manager.
• Report any facility maintenance issues (such as plumbing leaks, broken equipment, or damaged fixtures) to the manager for repair.
• Assist with special events setup and cleanup when required.

Landscaping Responsibilities:

• Maintain the grounds surrounding the tennis/pickleball courts, clubhouse, and parking areas, including lawn mowing, edging, and weed control.
• Trim bushes, hedges, and trees to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the landscape.
• Water plants, shrubs, and flowerbeds to ensure proper growth, especially during dry spells.
• Plant and maintain seasonal flowers and landscaping plants.
• Maintain tennis court surroundings, including removing debris and ensuring the area remains neat and clean.
• Work with Engineering Team to maintain irrigation systems, adjusting them as needed to optimize water usage.
• Remove leaves and other debris from parking lots, sidewalks, and common areas.

Other Responsibilities:

• Weekly cleaning of all tennis/pickleball courts (twice weekly should conditions dictate)

• Maintain inventory of cleaning and landscaping supplies and tools.
• Ensure storage shed is clean and organized.
• Coordinate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of daily facility activities.
• Report any suspicious activities directly to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Raquet Sports Manager.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in housekeeping work or landscaping preferred.
• Ability to use cleaning equipment, lawn care tools, and small machinery.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety, and landscaping techniques.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• Willingness to take on new responsibilities as they arise.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background screening

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Frequent walking, lifting, and carrying of equipment.

Work Environment:

• This role requires both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions.
• Must be able to interact with the public and facility staff in a professional and friendly manner.
