Financial Controller
Compensation package range = $220-250k total compensation (depending on experience)
**This role is an in-office position (4 days)**
Large, stable and profitable real estate & retail asset management firm located in Alexandria County is actively recruiting for a Financial Controller. Company has rich history in the area and continues to diversify its assets.
Superb opportunity for a larger Controller to mentor/grow/build team of 20 staff (4 direct). Partners with CFO, COO, CEO and HR Executive. Will be especially focused on financial transformation, process improvement, maintaining close expectations, reviewing and improving ERP/systems projects and upgrades, and leading a larger accounting team with month-end close and financial reporting.
Overview:
- Prepare/report consolidating and consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Research, analyze, and implement technical accounting issues
- Establishing and maintaining the documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Managing the month-end close process, including monthly reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Assist in planning and coordinating annual audits, as required
- Coordinate and prepare necessary tax provision/return data for all CPG entities, internally prepare sales and use tax returns, and other returns, as required
- Assist in preparing the annual budget plan
- Streamline systems and processes and initiate corrective actions when necessary
- Oversee the training and development of the 20-person accounting team
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by keeping current on changes in accounting standards (U.S. GAAP) and reporting practices.
Qualifications:
- Active CPA is required
- 15 years of accounting and finance training/experience
- Previous public accounting training highly preferred
- Operational accounting training from $100m firm/company
- Exceptional financial reporting and monthly close knowledge
- Strong ERP/systems/accounting package knowledge - upgrades, implementations etc.
- Superb people management skills - mentor, motivate, develop etc. (should have managed 15 indirectly)
- Must have an eye for process, procedure and department improvement
- Support and champion cultural efforts to increase effective communication and teamwork
- Excellent decision-making abilities - superior communication and judgement
Salary : $220,000 - $250,000
