The Cordova Recreation and Park District is seeking reliable and service-oriented candidates to serve as White Rock Park Splash Park Leads for the summer of 2025.Lead Attendants are responsible for the opening and closing of the White Rock Splash Park during operating hours. The primary responsibility of the job is to oversee the Recreation Leader I - White Rock Splash Park Attendants, ensure participants are the mandated height for the water slides, participants follow rules for the safe use of the park, and oversee the collection of fees. Incumbents will work outdoors in the sun and will likely get wet throughout the shift. Typical Schedule: up to 20-30 hours a week, varying shifts Monday through Sunday, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.Summary DescriptionUnder direction of a Recreation Supervisor II and Senior Recreation Coordinator, leads a variety of recreational program activities involved in the implementation of recreational programs at one or more facilities including sports, special events, day camps, splash parks, arts and crafts, and other recreational programs and activities; provides on-site supervision for program implementation; sets-up and issues equipment for recreational activities; and maintains records and reports. There are a variety of areas for Recreation Leaders to work: Day Camp Counselor, Splash Park Attendant, Snack bar worker, Score Keeper and/or assisting with special events.Distinguishing CharacteristicsRecreation Leader II is the journey level class in the Recreation Leader series. This classification is distinguished from the Recreation Leader I by the assignments and performance of the full range of duties. The Recreation Leader II has more responsibility to ensure that a program or activity runs successfully, more experience than a Recreation Leader I allowing them to lead staff in larger programs, can work independently in a program with an appropriate ratio of children to leader, has the ability and experience to plan curriculum and daily activities, and gives direction to Recreation Leader I employees. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance and are aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices: Provide direction to Recreation Leader I employees. Oversee the collection of money; make change, perform basic mathematical computations accurately; complete daily cash handling paperwork. Supervise participants and/or leads activities. Promote and enforce safety procedures; render First Aid and CPR, as required.Provide customer service and interpersonal skills during public contact and assist with any questions, conflicts, and phone calls.Perform opening and closing duties of a specific program or facility as necessary; report any problems or concerns to assigned supervisor.Prepare and maintain accurate program and other records as needed.Inventory and ensure orderliness of program equipment, supplies, and storage area; perform general maintenance, including wiping down tables and removing trash.Act as Department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs and facility operations.Attend all trainings when provided.Perform related duties as required.
