Who We Are
Established in 1958, Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD) is an independent special district governed by an elected Board of Directors.
We provide quality recreational programs, parks and services for our diverse and growing region. We currently operate over 50 parks and facilities across more than 600 acres of urban and open space. We also operate Cordova Golf Course which is a full-service 18-Hole course with a lighted driving range, pro-shop and lessons from PGA professionals. We host dozens of events throughout the year and provide athletic, educational and creative outlets for children and adults of all ages.

- Supervises patrons and participants in pool and deck area.
- Prepare lesson plans and conduct swimming classes for beginners through advanced levels; instruct students in proper swimming techniques and various water safety measures.
- Promote and enforce safety procedures; renders care in the most current American Red Cross techniques in water safety, first aid, and CPR/AED to person in need of assistance.
- Use strong customer service and interpersonal skills while conducting activities with the public.
- Prepare detailed and complete written reports, including accident and incident reports.
- Acts as Department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs, pool and facility operations.
- Attend all trainings when provided.
- Assist in the general upkeep of pool and office area and surrounding facility including hosing, sweeping, and cleaning restrooms.
- Perform related duties as required.
Knowledge of:
- Basic operations, services, and activities of an aquatics facility.
- Basic principles and techniques involved in teaching swimming at all levels.
- Basic water safety practices.
- Basic principles and practices of general pool maintenance functions.
- Principles and practices of public relations.
- Provide proper instruction in swimming and water safety.
- Remain calm in emergency situations.
- Maintain high fitness level to perform duties of the job.
- Communicate with tact to secure voluntary compliance with facility policies and rules.
- Prepare written reports and records.
- Assist with daily maintenance of the swimming facility.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
- Resolve problems promptly.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Pre-Hire Requirements:
Before an employee is hired, they must successfully complete pre-employment requirements that may include, but are not limited to: fingerprinting and Department of Justice (DOJ) background check, a clear tuberculosis screening, reference check, licensure/certification check, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States in accordance with Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986.

Initial Selection Review: The Cordova Recreation & Park District reviews all initial application materials to identify qualified applicants. The best qualified candidates will be invited to a series of panel interviews at a date that is to be determined.
