Instructors can request to work mornings 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and/or evenings from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m.Summary DescriptionUnder direction of the Senior Recreation Coordinator and pool management, performs a full range of swim instruction classes; prepares lesson plans and instructs students in swimming and water safety activities; prevents accidents, and enforces pool regulations; responds appropriately in the event of an accident/emergency; performs a variety of daily maintenance assignments, such as hosing, sweeping and cleaning restrooms; and performs related work as required.Who We AreEstablished in 1958, Cordova Recreation & Park District (CRPD) is an independent special district governed by an elected Board of Directors. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.Supervises patrons and participants in pool and deck area.Prepare lesson plans and conduct swimming classes for beginners through advanced levels; instruct students in proper swimming techniques and various water safety measures.Promote and enforce safety procedures; renders care in the most current American Red Cross techniques in water safety, first aid, and CPR/AED to person in need of assistance.Use strong customer service and interpersonal skills while conducting activities with the public. Prepare detailed and complete written reports, including accident and incident reports.Acts as Department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs, pool and facility operations.Attend all trainings when provided.Assist in the general upkeep of pool and office area and surrounding facility including hosing, sweeping, and cleaning restrooms.Perform related duties as required.
