Job Summary:
Our client is seeking aJr. COBOL Developerto join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in the configuration, development, implementation, and support of information systems and applications. This role involves working with payroll and/or personnel applications, learning to design, develop, maintain, and enhance application functionality, and ensuring the smooth operation of our systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the configuration, development, implementation, and support of information systems and applications.
- Learn to configure payroll and/or personnel applications (rules-based applications).
- Develop and maintain COBOL programs under supervision.
- Help design, develop, maintain, and enhance the functionality of applications.
- Analyze functional specifications for application requests.
- Consult with users to evaluate and determine business needs.
- Document the functionality and requirements of the software.
- Test and modify programs and code to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of COBOL development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with legacy systems and related technologies (e.g., JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience or coursework in configuring payroll and/or personnel applications.
- Familiarity with mainframe environments and tools is a plus.
