Title : Manager Data Governance
Job Description :
Position Overview : We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Data Governance Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and develop our overall data governance program, leveraging your expertise in data management and best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality data that powers our strategic initiatives. Your efforts will be crucial in transforming our approach to data, particularly in the realm of cloud data transformation.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and Implement Frameworks : Create and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and standards for managing the organizations data assets. Collaborate with domain owners to implement enterprise-level data management and governance policies.
Data Lineage and Retention : Promote and manage data lineage to capture the end-to-end flow of data from enterprise and third-party sources into internal systems and reports. Establish and enforce data retention policies.
Data Classification and Security : Design and implement data classification policies based on sensitivity, criticality, and regulatory requirements. Manage data security and privacy controls to ensure compliance with regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
Community Development : Develop and support a community of data stewards by creating specific data governance frameworks, operating models, training materials, and scorecards. Ensure data quality and privacy by working with various departments to identify and mitigate data quality issues.
Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with IT, management, and other stakeholders to align data initiatives with business goals. Lead data governance meetings, communicate data standards, and provide training on best practices.
Consulting and Expertise : Provide consulting to internal business and product owners on data management practices, including data security, data quality, data sharing, metadata, reference data, and master data. Become an expert on our data sources, needs, user access security, policies, and sharing standards.
Leadership and Mentorship : Lead and mentor the Data Management and Governance team, driving key data components such as strategy, roadmap, services, and tooling for data management functions.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in information systems, data analytics, data management, data policy development, or a related field.
10 years of experience in the IT industry, with 5 years in leading and building data governance practices, including program lifecycles.
In-depth knowledge of data management concepts and practices, including data security, data quality, metadata, reference data, and master data.
Proficiency in data modeling concepts and the ability to interpret data modeling diagrams.
Understanding of privacy, risk, compliance, and regulatory concerns, with the ability to articulate impacts to partners and stakeholders.
Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
Experience with data management tools like Purview, Collibra, and Atlassian Atlas, with a preference for familiarity with Azure data tools.
Extensive database experience, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience working with big data repositories.
Familiarity with Agile project methodology and tools such as Rally / Jira.
Project management experience and proficiency with Microsoft Project.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to articulate complex data management solutions clearly to non-technical audiences.
Strong attention to detail, with a relentless focus on delivering accurate, efficient, and high-quality results.
Proven track record of thought leadership and influencing cross-functional teams to produce measurable results.
Confidence in taking on high-importance initiatives that are ambiguous in nature, driving them to completion with minimal supervision, and demonstrating a sense of ownership.
