We are seeking candidates for our Travel Duty Officer position who have a passion for learning our industry and for providing quality care in an institutional setting. This position will be hired through our new Resource Staging and Deployment Center. Staff will receive paid training which will be delivered both remotely and in person at a facility to be determined.
When you apply to this position you are agreeing to be able to attend training both remotely and in person and understand that you will be deployed to a designated facility to support our operations on an 8 week term of assignment. At the conclusion of the assignment the travel duty correctional officer will be given time back in their home state to further train, and to take paid time off before embarking on the next travel assignment. Candidates hired into this position must be willing to accept travel assignments to any CoreCivic facilities.
Employees working as Travel Duty correctional officers are working under an approved plan for specific deployment time frames which includes a detailed rotation plan with specified intervals back in their home state, and are eligible to receive additional travel duty related incentives while on a travel assignment.
Based on contractual requirements, benefit plan provisions and paid time off policies will differ between certain CoreCivic facilities. While an employee is deployed on an assignment, the benefit plans and paid time off policies applicable at the facility where the employee is assigned, will apply.
Essential Functions:
Perform routine duties of a Correctional Officer, Travel Duty Officer in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures to maintain order and provide for the safety, security, care, and direct supervision of those in your care during all phases of activity in the facility.
- Responsible for maintaining order and security of inmates in a correctional facility.
- Able to work any shift, as you may be assigned to a variety of posts including, but not limited to, armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, visitation, etc.
- Must be able to work all post assignments on day or night shift.
- Ability to climb stairs, stand or walk on various surfaces for extended shifts up to sixteen (16) hours.
- Ability to bend, kneel and reach to conduct pat searches and cell searches.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent required.
- Once hired, must complete pre-service correctional officer training and, where applicable, be a non-commissioned security officer licensed by the state of employment.
- Ability to complete any required training onsite or remotely is required.
- Ability for extensive U.S. domestic travel is required.
- Work experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
- Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
- A valid driver's license is required.
