Patient Collections Specialist

Core Dermatology is seeking an experienced Patient Collections Specialist to join our Peoria Administrative team. This is a full-time position that will be on-site.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Revenue Cycle Manager, Patient Collections Specialists will focus on patient account receivable (A/R). This position maintains our system balances, statements, and collections process along with speaking via telephone directly with patients to explain balances, potential collections, and set up payment plans.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain weekly electronic process to send out statements, letters and move balances through the collections process.
• Understand the insurance A/R process to allow for better servicing of patient accounts.
• Act as a liaison between collection agencies and Core Derm and its affiliated practices.
• Post payments from collection agencies.
• Identify and document trends in patient balances to assist entire company in reduction of overall patient A/R.
• Answer incoming calls from patient accounts.
• Exhibits professional behavior and communication to all patients, clients, and other employees.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of collections or billing experience.
• Track record of managing and handling challenging situations.
• Two years of direct customer, patient, or consumer interaction either in person or via phone.
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work in an office environment 5 days a week.
• Track record of managing and handling challenging situations.
• Ability to be self-managed.

Salary Information:

This is a Non-Exempt position. The budgeted based hourly rate is $20.00.
