Junior Naval Architect Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of ship structures, hull forms, and marine vessels based on client requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct stability analysis, including intact stability, damage stability, and load line calculations, to ensure vessel safety and regulatory compliance.
- Perform structural analysis of ship components, including strength and fatigue assessments, to validate design integrity.
- Support the creation of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Assist in the preparation of 3D models and simulations using relevant software tools (AutoCAD, Rhino, GHS, or similar).
- Review and verify the accuracy of design documentation, calculations, and reports.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and designers to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
- Contribute to the development of design proposals and bids, ensuring compliance with marine classification societies (ABS, CFR, DNV, LR).
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in naval architecture, marine engineering technologies, and industry regulations.
- Participate in client site visits, inspections, and testing as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in naval architecture or marine engineering.
- Strong knowledge of ship design principles, stability calculations, and structural analysis.
- Proficiency in design and analysis software (AutoCAD, Rhino, GHS, or similar).
- Familiarity with marine classification society rules and industry regulations (ABS, CFR, DNV, LR).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Willingness to travel to client sites for inspections, tests, and project-related tasks.
- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
- Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and construction methods.
- Experience with commercial vessels, pleasure craft, and yachts.
- Familiarity with Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) design and construction.
