Under close supervision, assists in the planning and performing of Mining Engineering duties related to development and production at assigned site.

Under close supervision, assists in the planning and performing of Mining Engineering duties related to development and production at assigned site.
Mine Engineer I - Underground Responsibilities
- Assists in the development of mining plans to support short and/or long range planning and production goals
- Monitors mining methods and equipment, with a view to improving performance
- Assists in developing and managing mine ventilation
- Assists in identifying courses of action to improve safety, operational efficiencies, control production costs and protect the environment
- Participates in Engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements
- Perform other duties as required
- Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering with no experience required
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mining Engineering
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of an underground mining method
- Must have worked in at least one of the position below before starting a second role:
- Scheduling Engineer
- Ventilation Engineer
- Mine Planner
- Ground Support
- Surveyor
- One-plus (1 ) year experience working on a mining crew
